In this critical role, you will define and implement technical controls to classify, secure, and govern sensitive information across Microsoft 365, Azure, and legacy repositories. Your leadership will directly support regulatory compliance, data minimization, cost optimization, and risk reduction initiatives in a fast-evolving hybrid cloud environment.
This position can be located in most of our US CSG offices, however a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Architect and implement Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MIP) solutions to classify and secure sensitive information across email, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and on-premises file shares.
- Define and implement sensitivity labeling, auto-labeling, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies aligned to the Client's data classification taxonomy (Restricted, Highly Restricted, etc.).
- Lead the archival and purging effort for stale data (unaccessed for 3+ years) in non-systems-of-record repositories to minimize unnecessary exposure.
- Replace existing Symantec DLP capabilities with Microsoft-native security configurations while enhancing policy enforcement.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to define protected categories (PII, PHI, financials, Board documents, etc.) and design Purview policies accordingly.
- Design and roll out governance procedures for data retention, legal holds, purging, and archiving of sensitive content.
- Develop monitoring, alerting, and reporting dashboards for data access violations and policy enforcement gaps.
- Conduct operational knowledge transfer sessions and document all configurations, policies, workflows, and exception handling processes
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
- 12+ years of cybersecurity or information governance experience, with 5+ years specializing in data protection.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 security architecture, especially Purview Information Protection, Sensitivity Labels, and DLP.
- Hands-on experience replacing legacy DLP solutions and implementing modern data security in hybrid cloud environments.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (HIPAA, PCI DSS, GLBA) and data residency/compliance requirements.
- Strong background in designing security governance workflows for data retention, access management, and incident handling.
- Ability to work collaboratively across business, legal, IT, and compliance teams.
