This position has the potential to be fully remote. The ideal candidate has experience working as an industrial designer with consumer products. Starting at $100,000/year + bonus
Starting salary is negotiable based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Function
The Industrial Designer creates and develops concepts and specifications to optimize product function and appearance, considering factors such as ergonomics, materials, manufacturing processes, and market trends.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field
5+ years experience in design working with consumer projects and injection molding
Responsibilities
Develop innovative and functional product designs from initial concept to final prototype, ensuring a balance between aesthetics, usability, and manufacturability.
Create detailed prototypes and 3D CAD models to test and communicate design concepts, ensuring feasibility and usability.
Focus on customer-centered design principles, ensuring that products are intuitive, ergonomic and enhance the user experience and ethos of the company
Select appropriate materials, finishes, and manufacturing methods, ensuring sustainable, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs.
Conduct user research, market analysis, and keep up-to-date with industry trends to ensure the designs meet customer needs and are competitive in the marketplace.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including quality team, design, marketing, and manufacturing, to align design concepts with technical requirements and production capabilities.
Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions
Proficient sketching, 3D modeling, and rendering skills
Detail oriented
Advanced Adobe CS, Solidworks, Fushion 360, Keyshot, etc.
Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles
Exceptional problem-solving skills to identify and address design challenges
