Summary

We are WSSRA and we provide recreation programs for adults and children who have a physical impairment, a mental disability, or any other type of disability! If you are looking for a flexible work schedule while helping members of our community then you have come to the right place. We also have a ton of fun while doing it. Bowling, dancing, eating out, going to movies and more is what we do with our participants. We will place you into programs based on your schedule. You can work as many hours as you want per week. PAY RATE: $16.00 an hour JOB PURPOSE: Inclusion Aides accompany individuals with disabilities who participate in park district and recreation department programs. Inclusion Aides reinforce the recreation leaders’ instructions, encourage peer interaction between people with and without disabilities, and emphasize the fun of recreation. Typically our inclusions aids have experience with people with disabilities. QUALIFICATIONS: Positive attitude towards individuals with disabilities. Ability to work independently with direction from supervisor. Dependable and punctual. Ability to work as a part of the partner district/village programming team. At least 16 yrs old ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Assist with the inclusion participants in the park district or village recreation program. Include the individuals with disabilities in all program activities while providing any necessary adaptations and initiate active involvement by participant in program activities. Assist part district/village staff in creating adaptations to existing programs in order to promote accessibility and accommodations for the individual with a disability. Facilitate and encourage social interaction between individuals with disabilities and their peers. Assist the program supervisor with identifying strategies or tactics for resolution of a participant’s undesired behaviors. Assist the program supervisor in developing and implementing a behavior management program, which promotes a positive outcome. Act as an advocate for participants and emphasize the individual’s abilities and similarities while deemphasizing differences. Communicate all incidents/accidents, problems and concerns to the proper park district/village representative and to WSSRA. Maintain communication and quality customer services towards participants, parents, staff, general public, and agency contacts as a representative of the park district/village and WSSRA. Complete any necessary documentation and paperwork, as assigned. Supporting WSSRA risk management program by watching for the general safety of all participants. Working in cooperation with the supervisor in setting up, carrying out and cleaning up program activities. Maintain confidentiality regarding participant information. Transport self to and from program location. Other duties as assigned by the park district/village and WSSRA.
