indie is empowering the automotive revolution with next generation automotive semiconductors and software platforms. We focus on edge sensors spanning multiple modalities including LiDAR, radar, ultrasound and vision for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), autonomous vehicles, connected car, user experience and electrification applications.

indie's is seeking a detailed an Imaging Lab Technician to join our Vision team. indie's Vision team develops highly-integrated system-on-chip (SoCs) for advanced video and image signal processing technology for today's high performance camera applications. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our imaging algorithms, firmware, and software tools teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, oversee, and maintain imaging lab operations and processes.
  • Operate lab equipment, including light boxes, light fixtures, and camera prototypes.
  • Test prototype samples and generate detailed test reports.
  • Expand and enhance imaging test facilities by building custom jigs, optimizing lab layouts, and automating test sequences through scripting.
  • Conduct on-road camera tests, including day and night driving, using indie’s test vehicle.
  • Analyze test data to identify defects and areas for improvement.
  • Perform electronic board rework, including soldering.
  • Assemble and test evaluation reference systems for shipment.
  • Manage inventory of boards and parts.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or Technician diploma in mechatronics, electronics, or software programming.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a test lab environment.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic product assembly and prototype work.
  • Experience in building test jigs and fixtures.
  • Ability to produce clear and detailed scientific test reports.
  • Knowledge of software scripting (e.g., Perl, Python).
  • Familiarity with computer software environments (Windows, Linux).
  • Experience working with imaging labs and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to operate indie’s test vehicle.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing tools, equipment, data, and reports.
  • Experience with camera operation and photography is a plus.
  • C/C++ programming skills are a significant differentiator.
