Reports to: Contract Manager

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Employment Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Aldevra is hiring a qualified HVAC Technician to provide heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration support at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System. This role is essential in maintaining comfortable and safe environmental conditions throughout a healthcare facility that operates 24/7. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Duties And Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, including chillers, boilers, AHUs, and RTUs.
  • Monitor building automation systems (BAS) and make adjustments to optimize efficiency.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Replace motors, belts, filters, and other components as needed.
  • Test and balance air and water distribution systems.
  • Troubleshoot control systems, pneumatic/electronic thermostats, and sensors.
  • Document all service and maintenance activities accurately.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Security Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain VA badge.

Workplace Safety And Environment

Work is performed in mechanical spaces, rooftops, and patient-care areas. Requires adherence to OSHA and VA safety standards. Exposure to temperature extremes, noise, and moving equipment is expected. Must use PPE and lift up to 50 lbs.

This position requires passing an extensive background check.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • HVAC trade school certificate or completion of an accredited apprenticeship program.
  • Minimum of 4 years of commercial HVAC experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Current EPA 608 Universal Certification.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a medical environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent and accurate written communication.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required.
  • Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entry.
  • Customer Focused and team-oriented work ethic.
  • Able to multi-task efficiently and accurately, focusing on quality.
