Summary

Position Summary This position supervises a team of HR staff that are responsible for recruitment/staffing, compensation administration, classification, employment relations, equity and inclusion, and organizational analysis. This position is part of the Region 1 HR management team and is responsible for administering programs, policies and systems and supervising subordinate staff. The functional areas include recruitment and staffing, classification, compensation, employment relations, AA/EEO, and performance management. The position is responsible for providing training and development, overseeing day-to-day activities and work assignments, and developing and updating HR policies and procedures. In addition, the position provides consultation to management on a wide range of difficult and complex and/or sensitive personnel matters. Salary Information This position is in schedule-range (81-03) with an annual salary of $85,238-$92,206, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. Job Details Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. Qualifications A minimally qualified applicant will have each of the following: * Experience in a professional human resources role performing the following: recruitment, staffing, classification and compensation related activities. * Experience providing leadership to a team of employees (this may include leading a team in accomplishing a project or assignment, training others to complete a task, providing feedback on work, etc.). * Experience providing consultation or guidance to organizational leadership on HR related issues, such as recruitment planning, compensation strategy planning, interpreting HR policies/procedures, or handling employment relations issues. In addition, well-qualified applicants will have one or more of the following: * Experience working with State of Wisconsin civil service rules and policies related to recruitment, classification, compensation or employment relations. * Experience making recommendations to improve HR policies or processes to ensure operations are consistent and efficient (e.g., evaluating needs, identifying issues/problems, proposing solutions, providing feedback, direction and training, etc.). * Experience providing ongoing HR support to multiple work units (e. g., different business areas, divisions, and/or agencies) How To Apply Apply online!
