Summary
The HR Generalist’s primary focus is to facilitate and organize Oak City Academy’s HR practices, ensure that new staff are properly assimilated to the school, and to work with our fractional HR firm to do the hands-on HR work on campus in tandem with them.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors or Associates degree preferably in Human Resources related field of study AND/OR Certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) or extensive experience in the HR field
Current membership of SHRM or HRCI (preferred)
Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission of Oak City Academy

Essential Functions
Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
Conduct phone interview screenings for potential candidates.
Schedule interviews with the appropriate staff members and set up observation times (for teaching staff).
Assist with recruiting, and facilitates the onboarding/hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, communicating benefits and compensation; collaborating with the Department Heads to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Assist with employee offboarding and exit interviews.
Conduct background and motor vehicle records checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Responsible for employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training
Assist Head of School
Department Heads to coach and discipline employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
Maintain company compliance with OSHA regulation and annual reporting.
Ensure reporting of accidents/incidents and their investigation through trainingand follow-ups.
Support Workers Comp. Insurance Provider with managing cases and maintaining records of injuries and illnesses.
Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Facilitates staff encouragement and blessing baskets at monthly staff meetings.
Oversees onboarding, training and background checks for Substitute Teachers and Parent Volunteers.
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this position are limited in nature to the normal requirements of working in an office environment within a school setting.
