Typical Duties

  • Assists with coordinating and attending job fairs, recruitment events, and community outreach initiatives
  • Supports the employee onboarding process, including preparing new hire packets and scheduling orientations
  • Responds to basic HR-related inquiries from employees and applicants
  • Helps maintain personnel records and tracks required documentation for compliance
  • Assists with scheduling interviews and communicating with candidates
  • Coordinates and schedules specialized departmental functions, meetings, and travel
  • Oversees an administrative unit's record management systems and database
  • Serves as lead staff
  • May supervise employees as assigned
  • Provides training to assigned staff
  • Assists with special projects as assigned
  • Prepares and maintains statistical and administrative reports
  • Gathers and prepares information for budgetary purposes
  • Creates, processes, and distributes confidential and sensitive documents and correspondence
  • Coordinates the preparation , distribution and preservation of departmental records
  • Communicates and acts as liaison with other departments, agencies and the public
  • Attends meetings to represent the department
  • Composes and types correspondence, contracts, reports and other documents
  • Researches pricing and vendors and prepares requisitions for needed goods and services
  • May perform research regarding grants and external sources of funding
  • May take and transcribe meeting minutes
  • May receive and account for money
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Essential functions include but not limited to: sitting; working with and around others; frequent interruptions; vision acuity near for reading and typing; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch and finger dexterity for typing.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical experience; OR, Associate’s degree and four years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical experience; OR, Bachelor's degree and three years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Additional Requirement

Must successfully pass background check and polygraph.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Human Resources; administrative and recruiting experience; Microsoft Office skills, and a strong knowledge of law enforcement operations and/or the functioning of the Sheriff's Office.

Preferred Qualifications include strong organizational skills; experience conducting interviews; knowledge of recruitment techniques; strong knowledge of County policy; knowledge of AZ POST requirements; experience conducting AZ POST training audits; expertise in working with Microsoft Suite especially Excel worksheets, and knowledge of FMLA.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.

This position is safety sensitive.
