HR Partner, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Aalto University conducts world-class research and education, focusing on the creation and transformation of technology-based business. By integrating theory-driven approaches with problem-oriented research, we provide a robust foundation for educating future leaders, entrepreneurs, and scientists to meet the global challenges in technology-based business. Our staff consists of professors, lecturers, researchers, and other academic personnel, and we are approximately 100 people in total.

We are looking for a new HR Partner

Purpose of the Role

As an HR Partner you will ensure smooth HR service and the implementation of Aalto HR goals at the department. You will work with managers at the department in all daily HR topics and recruitment. Furthermore, you will support the department leadership in developing operations, managing change processes, and fostering community building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the execution and development of smooth, professional, and high-quality HR service in the department, including HR communication
  • Implementing Aalto HR strategy goals and common HR processes at the department, and systematically developing department HR processes and practices ensuring data quality and data-driven practices
  • Supporting and partnering with department management in developing operations, managing change processes, and fostering community building, including development of leadership structures, transparent communication diversity and inclusiveness
  • Supporting managers with with a hands-on, systematic and proactive approach in daily employment and HR topics, including recruitment support, assistance in challenging situations and conflicts and coaching managers
  • Supporting and managing academic recruitment processes

Your Skills

  • Knowledge in general HR and employment matters, with expertise in university environments as an advantage; familiarity with HR systems, especially Workday, is beneficial
  • Acting as a partner to unit management and supporting change leadership and change management
  • Providing hands-on manager support in daily HR matters, including recruitment; manager development and coaching
  • Facilitating challenging situations and conflicts, and developing well-being at work, community culture, and the working atmosphere
  • Ability to navigate complex environments and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong interaction, influence, teamwork, and matrix working skills
  • Fluent written and spoken communication in Finnish and English
  • Responsible, solution-oriented, collaborative, customer-focused, self-directed, and effective approach to work.
  • Master's degree or equivalent qualifications in a relevant field.

Team

You will be part of the HR team at the School of Science, Aalto's largest school, comprising 20 HR professionals in total. You have the support of our HR Generalist team handling practical employment agreements and other transactions. You report to the school's HR Manager and your are suppored also by our School’s HR Partner team.

  • Salary according to the general collective agreement for universities. Starting salary, depending on the selected candidate's experience, is approximately 4000 – 4300 €/month.
