Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Histopathology Technician with a minimum of 2 years of experience to join our medical laboratory team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in histopathology techniques and a strong commitment to quality and precision in preparing and analyzing tissue samples. As a Histopathology Technician, you will play a crucial role in the preparation of tissue samples for microscopic examination, assisting pathologists in diagnosing and treating patients.
Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related field. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred but not required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Histopathology Technician or in a similar role in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
Responsibilities
Sample Preparation: Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination, including fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining of tissues.
Quality Control: Perform routine quality control checks on histology slides and ensure accuracy and consistency in staining techniques.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and staining machines. Ensure all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of specimen processing, including detailed documentation of staining protocols, quality control results, and any issues encountered.
Collaboration: Work closely with pathologists, laboratory technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis of tissue samples.
Compliance: Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a sterile and organized work environment. Follow established procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to histology techniques, equipment malfunctions, or staining problems.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with advancements in histopathology techniques and technologies. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.
Skill Required
Proficiency in histopathology techniques, including tissue fixation, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and its maintenance.
