Summary

Golden State Dermatology is a physician-led and owned dermatology group rapidly expanding across California, with over 35 locations. We are a leading medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology group specializing in skin, hair, and nail conditions, Mohs micrographic surgery for the treatment of skin cancer, surgical and non-surgical cosmetic skincare, anti-aging, body contouring, and plastic surgery. Golden State Dermatology’s Dermatopathology lab performs routine histology, immunohistochemistry, histochemical stains, and digital slide scanning to facilitate rapid and accurate diagnosis for our patients.

As a Dermapathology Lab Manager, your job duties will include:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily lab operations, including specimen processing, staining, and slide preparation.
  • Ensure all histological procedures adhere to established protocols and standards.
  • Coordinate and manage activities and programs within the lab, manage records for all activities and programs, and oversee technical support for laboratory equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools.
  • Manage safety protocols and security within the lab, including maintaining current knowledge of all relevant protocols, regulations, standards, and safety procedures and developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
  • Oversees personnel functions such as interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, evaluating performance, and developing staff, work schedules, and assignments.
  • Collaborates with and serves as a liaison to practice managers at various clinics and coordinates specimen shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP)
  • Oversees inventory management, such as selecting, purchasing, storing, and allocating laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Oversees quality assurance and preventive maintenance for laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Manages financial activities and reports of the laboratory and assists in preparing budget estimates.

Required Education

  • Licensed Histotechnician or Histotechnologist
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline closely related to the position
  • Previous supervisory and/or managerial experience.
