Description: Assumes responsibility for coding and abstraction of all records using ICD-9 and HCPCS classifications systems. Reviews records to ensure optimum reimbursement per DRG based on medical record documentation. Other roles and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements: Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalency. Computer and medical terminology courses and/or related experience required. A.R.T. or R.R.A preferred. Ability to use Physicians' Desk Reference and other reference materials. CPC, CCS, RHIT or RHIA certification required. Comprehensive knowledge or ICD-9 and HCPCS classifications systems. Required Skills/Abilities: Communication and interpersonal skills required. Physical Requirements: Work is of light demand. Routine lifting demand. Routine lifting requirements of less than 25 pounds. Standing, sitting, walking, bending and reaching required. Works inside. Motor coordination and finger dexterity required to operate computer and other office equipment.
