Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Highway Project Engineer to support a variety of projects in the Mid-Adlantic Region. This person will be specializing in Highway, Roadway, and ADA Design.

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Highway Project Engineer who thrives in a collaborative team environment. The role highlights a customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality and results on every project.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Technical Duties:

  • Geometric Design of Highway, Roadway and ADA project per AASHTO standards.
  • Preparation of Design plans, cost estimates and specifications for Highway, Roadway, and ADA projects
  • Preparation of Displays and Graphics for client and public meetings. 3D Project Design and Model Development.
  • Assist with the design and development of a complete set of construction documents including the coordination required with other disciplines.
  • Write and prepare Project Specifications.
  • Prepare Construction Cost Estimates.
  • Assist with the coordination of the technical aspects of projects with Clients.
  • Assist coordinating design with Client’s Project Manager while maintaining good Client relations.
  • Assist with monitoring work of Sub-Consultants to ensure completion of work on time and within budget, including technical review of their work.
  • Assist with reviewing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates at various milestones to insure completeness and accuracy of work.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • 5 - 8 years of experience in Highway, Roadway and ADA design, and construction document preparation.
  • Maryland PE License.
  • Understanding or Highway Engineering Principles and development for Highway Contract Documents.
  • Solid understanding of and experience utilizing CADD software AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Microstation.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, AutoTurn, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent time management and written & oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work through assigned tasks/projects independently and timely.
  • Willingness to work with and learn from Highway teammates of all levels.
  • Design experience with Maryland and/or Delaware state and local agencies.
  • Team oriented and self-motivated.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.


Compensation:

The Salary range for this position is $70k-$123k. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
