Job Overview:
As a key member of the Aroris Operations team, the Healthcare Contract Manager is responsible for maintaining strong relationships and smart negotiations with payers, supporting the payer-provider negotiation strategy, and supporting the client success manager in ensuring strong client relationships. Principally tasked with being the bridge between clients, client success, and payers, the Healthcare Contract Manager diligently ensures that processes are followed, deliverables are clearly defined, negotiations are on track, and expectations are met or exceeded. Strong communication skills and a willingness to “lean in” to the inherent complexity of the relationship between payers and providers is essential.
Job Responsibilities:
· Document Management and Analysis: Review comprehensive information from clients and payers to drive informed payer-provider contact negotiations and decision-making.
· Documentation Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy of supporting documentation for contracts, completing documents with precision and attention to detail.
· Contract Assessment and Negotiation: Assess current commercial payer contracts and fee schedules for clients, identifying gaps and supporting negotiations for fee schedule changes.
· Contract Lifecycle Management: Provide timely notifications of critical contract events throughout their lifecycle, including renewal deadlines, termination dates, and other significant milestones.
· Contract Negotiations: Partner with Director of Payer Relations on negotiation strategy. Execute the negotiation strategy with the payers.
· Financial and Business Terms Compliance: Ensure contractual arrangements meet financial targets and business terms comply with client objectives.
· Contract Approval Process: Facilitate the approval process of all contract documents from pre-contract through post-signature phases, presenting results to client success manager and clients at regular intervals.
· Contractual Coordination: Coordinate and communicate contractual terms to the finance department for payer analyses, invoicing, and other financial considerations.
· Payer Relationship Management: Maintain and strengthen existing relationships with payers associated with contracted providers, fostering positive connections that contribute to overall account success.
· Strategic Customer Engagement: Support Client Success Manager through regular status updates and responsiveness to inquiries, fostering strong relationships.
· Reporting and Analysis: Develop and maintain periodic reports on the status of all contracts and contract negotiations.
· Communication Excellence: Maintain excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency in all interactions.
· Administrative Project Support: Assist in client and payer-related administrative projects as needed, contributing to the efficiency of client success and negotiation processes.
Required Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:
· Bachelor’s Degree required in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a minimum of 3+ years in contract management within a healthcare setting
· Excellent negotiation, communication and organizational skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
· Strong understanding of healthcare industry and landscape, including the relationship between payers and providers.
· Willingness to participate and proactively engage in all aspects of payer contracting processes on behalf of the client.
· Exceptional and proven provider partnership skills and interpersonal skills.
· High degree of comfort in developing and delivering presentations to internal and external groups.
· Results driven, persistent - able to self-direct and work independently showing initiative, while seeking guidance when appropriate.
· Proven ability to work with limited or ambiguous information. Must be able to “connect the dots, using strong organizational and analytical skills.
· Demonstrated strength in computer software, e.g., MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, social media and internet-based research.
· Ability to multi-task, pay close attention to detail and be flexible in a fast paced and growing organization.
· Must have a high attention to detail, as this role is directly responsible for the accuracy of supporting documentation for contracts and completing documents accurately.
· Effectively and professionally represent Aroris to the provider & payer community.
Preferred Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:
· Experience working at a medical insurance company, MSO, IPA, TPA highly preferred.
· Experience with managed care organizations, hospital systems or physician group contracting.
Salary: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 Yearly
Bonus Potential: 25% - 40% of yearly salary
