Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs that reflect our commitment to True North—ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
Lead by example, demonstrating better & bolder thinking in safety practices, and inspiring others to do the same.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments with integrity, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
Uphold our value of doing the right thing by leading and participating in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of preventive measures.
Foster a culture of collaboration and open-mindedness by coordinating and conducting HSE training programs that empower employees to prioritize safety.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, audits, incident reports, and training sessions, ensuring transparency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, applying competence and confidence to integrate safety considerations into project planning and operational processes.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of HSE programs, using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement and achieve results.
Develop and manage emergency response plans and procedures, including conducting regular drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.
Promote sustainable practices by ensuring proper waste management and minimizing the environmental impact of company operations.
Must know Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, operating and technical procedures, and work instructions as it applies to the position.
Perform various other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Manage the Health, Safety, and Enviornmental program at all 3 Johnson Screens sites (New Brighton MN, Bakersfield CA, Forked River NJ.
Required Skills
Successful candidate will have a strong technical OSHA/Safety/Industrial Hygiene/Environmental/property protection and worker compensation background and a history of producing results and progressive responsibility with multiple plants and EH&S safety programs.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to confidently influence at all levels of the organization while fostering collaboration.
Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, applying better & bolder thinking to continuously improve processes.
Proficiency in developing and delivering HSE training programs, with an open-minded approach to engaging and educating employees.
Ability to analyze data and trends to identify potential risks and drive results through continuous improvement.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
Certification in HSE management, such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or similar, is preferred.
