Description
The Bowling Green Veterans Center is a skilled nursing facility that cares for the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Veterans. Our mission is to Serve Kentucky's Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.
The Health Information Manager position is responsible for providing technical assistance and monitoring compliance with medical records and reports in compliance with federal and state licensing for the Bowling Green Veterans Center.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Creating and establishing policies and procedures for the filing and retention of resident health records.
* Audits documentation upon admission, transfer, discharge, and quarterly for completeness.
* Codes and indexes diseases for all residents within the electronic health records system according to the International Classification of Diseases.
* Stores and retains facility forms, edits as needed and requested.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience in medical records administration.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be accredited by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) OR be registered by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA.) http://www.ahima.org/ Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office setting within a hospital facility.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
