Safety Management

• To implement the ABG Safety systems to ensure Incident Free operations and Loss prevention for the Units.
• To proactively Identify, Evaluate and Control the Risks in the plant operations.
• To maintain regular Communication with different groups of people towards Safety, Health and Environment of Employees, Contractors and other concerned stakeholders.
• To manage the Process Safety (PSM) by implementing ABG PSM standard with the necessary tools and updates. This is most critical for high hazard plants like Chlor Alkali, Peroxides, and Sulphites.
• To develop a Safety Culture in the organization with involvement of all the stakeholders through Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) principles and ABG standards
• To ensure that all the safety related equipment are provided in the plant as needed in Design and the same are always maintained in healthy condition
• To ensure that all the safety equipments are operated as per SOPs and all teams are following Safety Processes as per laid down system of ABG.
• To manage the assurance and audit processes and develop capability in team for activities like Incident Investigation, Risk Assessment, Job Cycle Check, Hazop , Emeregncy Repsonse Planningamong many things.
• To comply with all legal requirements of the land and act as the gate keeper to the operations team for Legal compliance and system integrity assurance on areas like Fire Protection, Explosive Licenses, tank farms, loading bays, transporter safety, and all other technical standards of ABG in Mech, Civil, Electrical, Instr, LOTO and Process.

Statutory Compliances

• To register for Safety position to Ministry of Labour and other government agencies as per legal requirement
• Officer Professional Level
• Safety Manager
• To ensure compliance of laws and have License to Operate from various agencies.
• To identify Occupational Health and Ind Hygiene requirements and to share to the required stakeholders for compliance

Security & Fire Fighting System Management

• To manage security system and access control of organization
• To coordinate with external agencies and respective industrial estate area for security related issues of the organization
• Manage the CCTV , PA and other local area off site emergency area facilities that are identified and necessary for each Unit
• To comply with and provide the appropriate Fire Fighting system and aids necessary for the plant. These may include sprinklers, Fire Engine, Special Rescue vehicle, Chlorine Emergency Vehicle, Fire Hydrant systems, Central Fire Tank and Pump House and any other foam protection or auto firefighting units , Nitrogen Injection Fire Prevention Unit among other things and the entire set of Fire Extinguishers across the plant.

Industrial Hygiene & Occupational Health Management

• To manage and periodically upgrade the Health Management and Industrial Hygiene System for the organization
• To identify, monitor and control all the occupational health risks in the organization via studies of QLEA, QNEA and implement management plans for the control and mitigation ofthe same.
• To manage health checkups for employees and contractors (pre - checkup, annual - checkup and final - checkup)
• To manage First Aid room / Occupational Health Centre/Hospital facilities as needed.
• If there is a dedicated doctor who has been given this responsibility, to facilitate the implementation of the Health System including managing the documentation and records update via PEHEL portal.
• Responsible for Biowaste management since this category is a hazardous waste.
• To ensure that OHC/ FAR/ HOSP has adequate resources including stretchers, Ambulance, Defibrillator Units to service in normal operations as well as in emergency cases
• To ensure safe work place and good work related environment as per local requirements and Business Excellence guidelines
