Job Summary:

The Head of Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the planning, execution, and governance of technology and transformation initiatives across the organization. This role will lead the development of a high-impact PPM function that ensures optimized resource allocation, financial stewardship of the technology budget, and adaptive governance that aligns with the evolving priorities of the business.


By championing modern delivery methodologies and fostering cross-functional alignment, this individual will play a critical role in accelerating our journey toward becoming a data-driven, technology-enabled enterprise especially in the context of the energy sector's transformation.


Key Responsibilities:

Project & Portfolio Management (PPM)

  • Establish and scale a best-in-class PPM function, introducing enterprise-wide standards, governance models, and delivery frameworks.
  • Lead the end-to-end management of the project portfolio prioritization, resource planning, value delivery, and lifecycle tracking.
  • Own and manage the full technology project budget, ensuring financial accountability, forecasting accuracy, and ROI-driven investments.
  • Drive adoption of Agile, hybrid, and iterative delivery models; tailor governance to support innovation, speed, and compliance.
  • Create transparency across the portfolio through dashboards, KPIs, and regular executive reporting.
  • Drive portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and project tracking to optimize business impact and ROI.
  • Monitor and mitigate project risks, ensuring alignment with business objectives and successful delivery of key initiatives.

Strategic Technology Enablement

  • Align PMO initiatives with the organization's technology roadmap, ensuring that all projects and data solutions contribute to long-term digital transformation goals.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making across the enterprise through enhanced visibility into program outcomes and performance.
  • Implement automation and digital solutions that improve project visibility, reporting, and strategic insights.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing PMO team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, technology teams, and external partners to ensure seamless collaboration and successful execution of initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on project execution, and business transformation strategies.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in Project & Portfolio Management (PMO), including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
  • Proven track record of managing complex technology portfolios and budgets, ideally within oil & gas or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies across both IT and business-led initiatives.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven ability to lead large-scale projects ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of PPM frameworks, Agile methodologies, and DevOps, with experience optimizing project governance.
  • Deep understanding of IT SDLC, vendor management, and financial planning for technology projects.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation, and storytelling skills, translating complex data insights into business impact.
  • Familiarity with the operational, regulatory, and safety in the context of the oil and gas industry.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to field offices and operational sites as needed.
  • Potential exposure to remote and high-risk environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
  • May involve walking, climbing, bending, or handling equipment during site visits.
  • Possible exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) while on-site at the field offices.
  • Availability for emergency response and incident management, including after-hours support when required.
