About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of PMO to lead our project and program management efforts. This role will be crucial in ensuring our projects align with organizational and strategic goals, are executed efficiently, and deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Alignment and Governance
Oversee the entire portfolio of projects and programs to ensure alignment with the enterprise’s strategic objectives
Prioritize projects based on strategic importance, resource availability and risk assessment
Support strategic planning processes by analyzing project performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
Ensuring project proposals are aligned with the organization's strategic roadmap
Project/Program Management Support:
Develop and maintain project management methodologies, standards and best practices
Establish and maintain governance frameworks, policies and procedures
Provide training and support to project managers on project management tools and techniques
Provide periodic updates to senior management on project status, risks and issues
Monitor project progress against planned timelines, budgets and quality standards
Performance Measurement and Improvement:
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project and program performance
Analyze project data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Collaborate with Value Realization Office to translate operational KPIs into financial metrics e.g. real savings and productivity gains
Execution Risk Management:
Facilitate cross-functional resource allocation and capacity planning across projects and programs
Monitoring resource utilization and identifying potential resource constraints
Monitor and report on portfolio risks and issues
Support project teams in risk identification, assessment and mitigation, focusing on business risks, market changes, and organizational impact
Build the “right” muscle
Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet defined standards.
Implement and refine project management best practices
Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions
Provide leadership and direction to the program management team
Oversee hiring, development, and performance management of staff
Identify and nurture top talent for succession planning
Requirements:
University degree from a recognized institution
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in Program Management
Solid hands-on knowledge and experience in project management methodologies, tailored to business needs
Strong analytical skills and business acumen
Experience working with executive teams and CEOs
Excellent communication skills in English; Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an advantage
Experience in change management and organizational transformation
General understanding of Agile methodologies and principles
This role reports directly to the Chief Transformation Officer, Sun Life HuBS and plays a critical part in driving our organization's project success and strategic growth.
