Head of Operations and Staff - Volunteer Position
As Head of Operations and Staff, you build strong internal relationships within the foundation. You deal with different teams and projects at once. You are an excellent communicator, well-organised and able to apply strategic thinking across all parts of the foundation.
You are the strong link between the teams and the board, keeping a helicopter view of the recurrent processes and yearly activities. You are able to navigate complex operational challenges in a young infrastructure of the foundation. You're a hands-on person with an entrepreneurial and motivated attitude. You get to wear lots of hats: strategy, fundraising, operations, marketing, hiring - based on the priorities set by the circumstances and the board's strategic decisions.
You typically have a background in management consulting and/or business operations and have experience in fast-paced environments exposed to different business functions. You are a strategic advisor and confidant to the board, with whom to discuss and pressure-test strategic ideas. You make sure that the leadership team knows that your responsibilities are guaranteed to get done - you're known for 'never dropping the ball'.
Responsibilities:
- Holistically organize operational procedures and processes in the operations of the foundation. e.g. Checklists and templates for things that happen on a repeat basis and can add/update to the 'manual' or manifesto by which internal operations are run;
- In cooperation with team leads, write job descriptions for volunteering positions where strategically required;
- Checks-in regularly with the members of the board and delivers input for strategic decisions;
- Creatively help solve hurdles the organisation faces and lead the execution of solutions;
- Promote speed and commitment to actions across the different teams;
- Keep the leadership meeting agenda up to date on the progress, follow up with the board for decision making;
- Provide clear proposals, rationale, and recommendations for the board to jointly and timely take such decisions;
- You lead by example, in an authentic and inclusive way and encourage participation and championing of individuals from diverse ethnical backgrounds, ways of thinking, gender, sexual inclination and abilities;
- Roll up your sleeves and join as a volunteer in events, moderation of workshops, and day-to-day activities if leaders are short on volunteers and extra hands are needed to deliver specific commitments.

Requirements:

- Experience in operations, change management, growth, or similar functions
