The Role
As Head of Engineering, you’ll lead our high-performing engineering team and be a key driver of our technical vision, execution, and culture. You’ll report to the CEO and be a member of the leadership team as well as partnering closely with product, design, and go-to-market leaders to scale Bigeye’s platform and ensure engineering remains a strategic force in shaping our success.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and scale a team of talented engineers across backend, frontend, ML, and DevOps disciplines.
- Set engineering strategy and technical direction aligned with business goals and customer needs.
- Foster a strong culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure high-quality, scalable, and secure software delivery—our platform monitors billions of data rows at scale.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Sales and Customer Success to prioritize initiatives and deliver customer impact.
- Grow and mentor engineering leaders while maintaining a strong focus on hiring and team development.
- Drive architectural decisions and champion our principles: solve real problems, use boring tech, build fast, zoom out often.
- Ensure operational excellence in systems performance, reliability, and incident response.
What You Bring
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering with 5+ in leadership roles, including experience managing managers.
- Proven success leading teams that ship high-quality SaaS products in fast-paced environments.
- Strong backend and platform engineering background; familiarity with our stack (Java, Python, MySQL, AWS, RabbitMQ) is a plus.
- Passion for AI and building solutions for the next generation of data products
- Experience scaling engineering teams through rapid growth.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Focused on customer impact and solving real-world data problems.
- A people-first leadership style—you care deeply about building inclusive, motivated, and high-performing teams.
Our Principles
Solve real problems. Bigeye solves real problems for real data teams, and Bigeye Engineering prioritizes those problems above all else. Engineering must be equally aware of customer needs as sales and customer support, and constantly re-evaluate whether what we are building is relevant.
Use boring technology. Success comes from building great products that solve real challenges for customers, not from satisfying our own technical curiosities. If a solution for a problem exists internally, we leverage or extend the solution. If this is a new space, we evaluate existing external solutions before committing to building something from scratch.
Build fast, zoom out often. We make customers happy by solving their problems faster than anyone else can (including themselves!), and that means not getting crushed by our scale or complexity. Bigeye Engineering makes time to extract commonalities into the platform layer, pay down technical debt, and with more information around problem spaces, rethink designs and architectures, and rebuild when we have to.

Compensation
- Salary range $260,000-275,000, depending on location
