Summary

Dannce.ai is seeking a Head of Engineering who thrives in a player-coach role—someone who can lead by example, build production-ready systems, and guide a small team of talented engineers. You’ll shape the first commercial product we develop spanning the core technical foundation of our clinical-grade, AI-powered video-based monitoring platform, including our mobile capture app, cloud video analysis pipeline, and EHR-integrated clinician dashboard. This is a high-leverage opportunity for a hands-on technical leader who is excited to build real-world healthcare tools that matter.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement critical systems across the full stack from cloud backends that process patient videos to clinical-facing interfaces.
  • Own and evolve our technical roadmap, prioritizing scalable, compliant systems that support rapid iteration and clinical reliability.
  • Lead a small team (2-3 engineers), providing mentorship, code reviews, technical guidance, and growth opportunities.
  • Balance speed and rigor by prototyping fast, then productizing with best practices, testing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians, product leaders, and ML researchers to translate user needs into elegant technical solutions.
  • Define and enforce engineering standards, especially around quality, maintainability, and compliance.
  • Evaluate and introduce modern tools, frameworks, and best practices that raise engineering quality and velocity.
  • Roll up your sleeves—when things need building you’re first in the codebase.

Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with 3–5 years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
  • Fluent in modern stacks—Python, cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP), CI/CD, APIs supporting web and mobile applications, etc.
  • Scrappy, pragmatic mindset: you can ship fast and refactor later without losing sight of long-term goals.
  • Excellent communication skills—you can align technical work with product and clinical needs.
  • Comfortable executing in startup environments where ambiguity is the norm, impact is immediate, and resourcefulness is essential.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience building clinical or regulated software.
  • Familiarity with camera frameworks, pose estimation, motion capture, or biomechanics.
  • Experience integrating with EHRs (e.g., Epic, FHIR).
  • Background in digital health, neurology, or ML-powered healthcare products.
