As the Risk Adjustment Coder you will perform medical record diagnosis code abstraction based upon clinical documentation, ICD-10-CM official guidelines for coding and reporting, CMS program guidance and in accordance with all state regulations, federal regulations, internal polices, and internal procedures.
HCC/Risk Coder Job Responsibilities
Perform code abstraction of medical records, diagnostic imaging, etc. to ensure ICD-10-CM codes are accurately assigned and supported by clinical documentation
Identify diagnosis and chart level impairments and documentation improvement opportunities for provider education
Assist by making recommendations for process improvements to further enhance coding goals and outcomes
Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10-CM codes, CMS documentation requirements, and state and federal regulations
Meet minimum productivity requirements as outlined by the project terms
Handle other related duties as required or assigned
HCC/Risk Coder Job Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of coding experience in Risk Adjustment
Ability to consistently maintain a high level of accuracy working in a fast-paced production environment
High school diploma or equivalent
Must live in Arizona
High level of competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Works independently under regular supervision
Must have a coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CRC, etc.), NO CPC-A or CCA
