As a member of Juniper's Hardware Sustaining Engineering team, you will help ensure that we can build and deliver quality hardware products to our customers. You will collaborate with other Juniper hardware, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify and resolve failure trends, expedite the implementation of corrective actions, and provide insights that can drive continuous quality improvement.
To be successful in this role, you must be a quick learner and comfortable troubleshooting complex hardware. You will be self-driven and able to manage multiple priorities and deliver timely results. You must be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and get help from subject matter experts as needed to drive your goals.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Juniper Repair Centers and ODM partners to drive hardware quality initiatives.
- Review repair findings and provide test and debug guidance to Repair Center teams as needed.
- Work with Component Engineering to identify, investigate, and resolve component failure trends.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and other cross-functional teams to investigate customer-reported hardware failures and quality concerns.
- Make schematic updates and generate ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) for hardware bug fixes and ongoing quality improvement.
- Assist with multi-sourcing components - provide test plans, and review test reports.
- Work with Manufacturing Operations and other teams to help expedite hardware quality enhancements and bug fixes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in board-level (PCB) hardware design, de-bug or test role.
- Experience in debugging hardware using tools such as high-speed oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience with schematic capture tools. (DxDesigner, Cadence System Capture preferred).
- Familiarity with PCB layout, spacing, design constraints, and DFM / DFR considerations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to drive quality goals.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities, tracking status and providing regular updates.
- Eagerness to learn and keep up with new technologies and methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in design, test or debug of complex and modular networking hardware products (routers, switches, etc.)
- Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware issues and driving hardware quality improvement initiatives.
- Expertise in evaluating components, including data-sheet review and understanding quality and reliability data.
- PLD and FPGA design and debug experience using Verilog HDL
- Basic knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity concepts, familiarity with switching power supplies.
- Experience working with component vendors, contract manufacturers, and ODM / OEM partners.
- Familiarity with complete hardware product life cycle, including experience with Engineering Change Management and Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Agile PLM.
- Familiarity with Repair Center operations such as manufacturing diagnostics & test flows, and rework & repair processes.
