Job Title: Hardware Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Hardware Engineer to take on a lead role in our office. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing control systems for building automation, which will encompass tasks such as material selection, inputting controllers, sensors, and actuators, as well as creating Visio designs and performing testing. A small portion of the role will also involve assisting the sales team.
Responsibilities
* Design complete building automation systems, including the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.
* Create sequences of operation for the control of common building systems where necessary.
* Document the design (i.e., submittals) and manage revision control of resultant documents.
* Configure the WebCTRL system site-specifically using SiteBuilder.
* Program control algorithms, including those involving third-party integration using Eikon.
* Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems using Eikon and ViewBuilder.
* Test programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
* Support functional testing (commissioning) for building systems.
* Final documentation of the building automation system incorporating all changes since submittal issuance.
* Adhere to project requirements and company/customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.
* Provide technical support during the selling process to ensure accurate address of customer requirements and proposal of best solutions.
* Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks related to cost, time, and technical considerations.
* Create requests for information (RFIs) in a timely manner.
* Communicate clearly and set proactive expectations with managers and project teams both internal and external.
* Adhere to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Essential Skills
* Bachelor's degree in engineering
* 5+ years of experience in building automation design
* Proficiency in AutoCAD or Visio
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and IP
* Experience with electrical design
Work Environment
The role requires the Hardware Engineer to be the sole engineer on site, necessitating an office presence of at least 80% of the time. There is some flexibility for remote work. The work environment is primarily office-based with necessary visits to building sites for project oversight.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
