Job Overview:
The Hardware Test Engineer will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and validation of hardware prototypes and electronic systems developed by the design team. This role focuses on ensuring the functional performance, reliability, and quality of new hardware products prior to production release. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach to working with PCBs, test instruments, and debugging hardware-level issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test hardware systems as per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Conduct functional, performance, and stress testing of hardware components.
- Identify, isolate, and document hardware issues or failures during the test phase.
- Collaborate closely with hardware design engineers to provide feedback and suggest improvements.
- Maintain test logs, prepare test reports, and update engineering documentation as required.
- Set up and operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, logic analyzers, etc.
- Assist in the development of test procedures, fixtures, and automated test setups for validation.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during testing and assembly.
- Support root-cause analysis and rework activities in case of test failures.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or Bachelors degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-6 years of hands-on experience in hardware assembly, testing, or validation (internships/projects also considered for entry-level).
- Strong understanding of basic electronics and components.
- Experience with using standard test instruments like multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Familiarity with soldering, rework, and ESD safety practices.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
- Team player with good communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred (Not Mandatory):
- Experience working in a hardware R&D or NPI environment.
- Exposure to embedded systems or microcontroller-based products.
- Knowledge of basic scripting (e.g., Python) for automated testing is a plus.
