Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking an experienced Hardware Architect to join a high performing team focused on developing hardware solutions for the Retail industry. The Hardware Architect will be responsible for initiating product development, working with peers to create solutions, collaborating with the portfolio team, engaging with customers, and being the subject matter expert leading the development team throughout all phases of the product development life cycle from concept to product release.
This position will fully own the product solution design and be the key position for resolving challenging issues by working with stakeholders and ensuring the developed product delights our customers. The Hardware Architect will also be an influencer across other teams within the organization. This role will require working with the portfolio group, other architecture teams, innovation team, Industrial Design, Human Factors, and the product management team to develop solutions.

Responsibilities:
• Design products and create specifications for computer vision, retail technologies and tablet solutions in collaboration with peers, other groups and key stakeholders
• Interact with stakeholders such as key executives, technical project managers, product managers, architects, development engineers as appropriate to address areas such as product design, functionality, performance, and product support
• Evaluate potential external suppliers and engage/collaborate with suppliers once selected
• Work with peers and management team to identify and resolve problems, gaps, and challenges in the hardware engineering processes
• For products assigned, be the primary subject matter expert for all stages of product development from creation of concepts to withdrawal from marketing and beyond as needed
• Be an active participant in creating patent disclosures, collaborating with peers to grow Toshiba's patent portfolio
• Foster an environment of collaboration, trust, and accountability
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of leadership experience in an engineering or new product development environment
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability in leading projects - managing requirements, schedule, cost, and quality deliverables
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic high-tech environment with team members dispersed across multiple countries and time zones
• An effective problem solver, with ability to utilize analytical techniques to resolve complex issues
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to organize and present clear and concise information up and down the organizational chain
• Experience and ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative environment
• Excellent risk and change management skills
• Experienced with different project management methodologies, tools, and defect tracking systems
• Adept with Microsoft Office tools
• English proficiency
Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as applied to Computer Vision
• Knowledge of Payment Card Institute (PCI) Hardware design requirements
• Knowledge of retail systems products
• Aptitude for recommending and implementing changes to practices/procedures that affect the immediate organization.
