Job Summary

As the sole Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) in the Netherlands, you are the local HR expert and trusted advisor to employees and leadership, while also partnering with international HR colleagues to align with the company’s broader people strategy. This role combines strategic HR business partnering with operational excellence, policy development, and hands-on HR administration—making it both impactful and highly visible across the organization.

You support the full employee lifecycle, deliver key HR initiatives, and ensure smooth daily operations. You work closely with senior leadership, including General Managers, to align business goals with people strategies, advise on organizational design, and assess capability and resource needs. Additionally, you report to the SVP HR and Chief of Staff on international projects related to performance, culture, values, and engagement.

From maintaining local policies and running payroll to advising on complex employee relations cases, you play a critical role in ensuring compliance, consistency, and a great employee experience across the Netherlands.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for the Dutch offices in Nunspeet and Heerenveen, providing full-spectrum support across all HR matters. Drive the full employee lifecycle, including attracting, recruiting, onboarding, developing, retaining, and offboarding talent and handle daily HR operations such as HRIS data accuracy, benefits administration, compliance, and audits.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on organizational structure, workforce planning, capability needs, and resource strategies.
  • Partner with Platform Leaders and international HR (SVP HR, Chief of Staff) to align local execution with global initiatives on performance, values, engagement, and culture.
  • Coach and mentor business leaders to build strong, effective teams that drive business performance.
  • Maintain accurate payroll processing and salary mutations using NMBRS; own communication with external payroll providers and ensure timely payments.
  • Draft and maintain employment contracts, amendments, and other documentation in line with Dutch labor laws and company policy.
  • Draft and maintain local HR policies including the staff handbook, car policy, and other benefits documentation.
  • Ensure legal compliance with local labor regulations and international assignment requirements (e.g., visa, work permits, taxation, social security).
  • Support and guide employee relations matters, including objective investigations, coaching, progressive discipline, career progression and conflict resolution.
  • Support employee and labor relations, compensation reviews, and training initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local employment law, HR trends, collective labor agreements and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance
  • Lead or contribute to various HR programs and projects, including L&D, succession planning, career development, performance management, and recognition.
  • Partner with management to address employee relations, benefits issues, and engagement challenges.
  • Contribute to HR and operational budget planning, work cost ruling (WKR) and manage programs within budget parameters.
  • Identify and apply for relevant HR subsidies such as MDIEU, SLIM, or through A+O Metalektro or OOM, supporting employee development and organizational growth.
  • Maintain business literacy around company strategy, financials, competition, technology, and culture to ensure people practices are aligned with business priorities.

This role is ideal for a hands-on, self-starting, strategic HR professional who is comfortable working autonomously in a stand-alone role while influencing and contributing at an international level. You are adaptable, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating a positive, compliant, and high-performing work environment.

Education And Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and minimum 5 years of experience in a generalist role that required change management, organizational effectiveness/development, policy development and administration, recruitment/selection, compensation, employment law, positive employee relations, performance management, HRIS and/or employee and management training/development.
  • Prior HR experience in manufacturing, engineering design or commercial industrial industry experience is helpful.
  • Experience supporting a diverse client group including manufacturing and non-manufacturing.
  • Experience working in matrixed organization is desirable.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in both Dutch and English is required. Any additional language skills are considered a bonus.
  • Being tech-savvy and comfortable learning new (digital) systems is very important in this role.
  • Knowledge or experience working with an ATS system like iCIMS or Recruitee is a bonus.

Employment conditions

  • A gross monthy salary between € 4000 - € 6500 (based on 40 hours a week)
  • 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days
