Group Fitness Trainer – Mission Prep Healthcare

Location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

Schedule: 15-25 hours per week. Monday - Friday, or we are flexible with the days.

Compensation: $30-$34/hour

Mission Prep Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and mission-aligned Fitness Trainer to join our team in supporting clients on their journey toward mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. The ideal candidate will design and lead movement-based programs that complement our integrated healthcare model, promoting strength, resilience, and recovery through personalized fitness strategies. This role plays a vital part in our mission to prepare individuals for a renewed life of purpose and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
  • Certified Personal Trainer (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or similar)
  • Boxing experience preferred
  • Experience in trauma-informed fitness, recovery programs, or group wellness sessions preferred
  • Background working in mental health, addiction recovery, or integrative healthcare is highly valued
  • Strong understanding of the connection between physical activity and mental health (e.g., anxiety, depression, PTSD)
  • Compassionate, adaptable, and skilled in supporting clients with diverse life experiences
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement individualized fitness plans aligned with each client's therapeutic goals
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to integrate exercise into treatment plans
  • Facilitate daily groups within the area of specialty as scheduled by clinical leadership.
  • Adhere to any and all Joint Commission and CCL, DHS or DHCS standards.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions relevant to the field of expertise during group sessions effectively.
  • Provide services in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures and established Mental Health and Substance Abuse Standards as well as within the scope of practice of the area of expertise.
  • Maintain Electronic Health Records to reflect the course of treatment and provide required documentation as required by company policy.
  • Complete documentation within the agency's 24 hour standard submission time requirement.
  • Work cohesively with other departments as part of the overall program and clinical operations, and communicate needs within and between departments effectively.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, training, and other activities, which ensure effective and efficient functioning of clinical operations.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and policies and procedures, code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures and exercise professionalism at all times.
  • Assess for safety and provide appropriate interventions according to AMFM Policy and Procedure.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to facilitate movement-based sessions, lift up to 10 lbs, and operate electronic documentation systems
  • Capable of extended periods of standing, walking, and client interaction in a residential care setting
