The position

Aalberts is looking for an ambitious and talented Group Business Controller to join Aalberts Group Finance team. This is a newly created position to support the CFO, Frans den Houter. In this new position you will analyse Aalberts’ business performance and translate analytical insights into concrete, actionable recommendations. Your role involves business performance management, strategic analysis and scenario planning. Reporting to the Finance Director of Aalberts, René Dekker, you will work in close cooperation with the Finance Director, CFO and Executive Board.


With the ambitious goals Aalberts’ set for 2030 and 2050, it’s is extremely important that the group function innovates and creates more insights for the business. Hence, the importance of this position. As the right hand of the CFO, you gain insights, and contribute, into how strategic choices are made in order to achieve those goals. As the new Group Business Controller, you are expected to play a key role in Aalberts’ future growth, developing your career in step with the company’s ambitions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Monitoring and analysing business performance and financial data to provide insights, creating concise, impactful summaries to inform executives and stakeholders;
  • Support CFO and finance director in various projects and presentations to support achieving Aalberts Thrive 2030 strategic objectives;
  • Translating analytic insights into concrete, actionable improvements;
  • Drive the Aalberts financial model, developing and analysing various future scenarios and long-term business planning in iteration with executive management;
  • Analyse, review and advise on the progress and result of capital allocation decisions, contributing to achieve Aalberts strategic objectives;
  • You initiate, stimulate and follow-up improvements group wide on reporting, KPI measurements and performance management;
  • You are independent and critical in safeguarding Aalberts’ interests and ensuring business decisions are grounded on sound financial criteria;
  • You will participate in various improvement projects.

The ideal candidate

Aalberts is looking for a confident, highly communicative and ambitious Group Business Controller. You are able to operate at C-level while building strong relationships, supporting, and when needed, challenging the business. With strong analytical skills and a drive to deeply understand the key drivers and complexities of the organization, you consistently add value. You comfortably navigate between strategic discussions and detailed operational matters, maintaining precision and sharpness at both levels.


The ideal candidate is highly ambitious, analytically driven, and has a strong entrepreneurial mindset. You combine perseverance and excellent communication skills with a hands-on, can-do attitude.


Experience and knowledge:


  • Master degree in Finance, Strategy, Business Economics (a post qualification such as CMA/CIMA/RA/RC is a big plus);
  • Min. 5-8 years of experience within Financial Analysis, FP&A, Audit and/or as a Consultant (Transactional Services/M&A/Analytics);
  • Strong analytical capabilities and a hands-on, pragmatic approach;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders;
  • Strong strategic, analytical and operational skills, combined with best-in-class execution and delivery. Driven and uncompromising in delivering high quality work;
  • Ability to distil complex business issues, financials and strategies to highlight insights and actionable recommendations in a concise and persuasive manner;
  • Experience developing content for and presenting to senior management;
  • Open minded, adapt fast to new situations and able to ask critical questions.
