Position Summary

The Ground Mount Operations Manager oversees the complete operational execution of Ground Mount solar projects within designated territories. This role involves managing branch Production Managers and field teams to ensure high-quality installations, strict adherence to safety standards, readiness of fleet and equipment, efficient labor allocation, and overall operational effectiveness. The Operations Manager is responsible for driving key performance indicators (KPIs) such as installation timelines, inspection pass rates, crew productivity, and project quality. This position ensures seamless coordination between installation teams, scheduling, engineering, and the inspection department. The Ground Mount Operations Manager is pivotal in scaling operations while maintaining top standards in safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

Leadership and Scheduling:

  • Oversee daily project scheduling and crew assignments across multiple branches
  • Ensure pre-installation project reviews are completed by Production Managers
  • Evaluate and authorize employee timecards
  • Proactively resolve any site condition conflicts prior to installation

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor branch calendar updates and ensure timely past-due cleanup
  • Review project installations post-completion for quality control and punch list management
  • Manage the pipeline within SLA’s
  • Confirm accurate site capture, permitting compliance, and inspection readiness

Performance Management

  • Conduct regular performance reviews with Production Managers and field leadership
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, safety standards, and training compliance (LMS)
  • Review failed inspections, reworks, and system performance trends to drive improvements
  • Lead corrective action processes when standards are not met

Safety And Compliance

  • Ensure all crews meet or exceed OSHA and company safety standards
  • Oversee regular safety audits and host regional safety meetings (‘Toolbox Talks’)
  • Monitor fleet and field operations compliance (vehicle inspections, tool tracking, maintenance)

Fleet And Equipment Management

  • Manage the planning for future growth needs of the fleet
  • Work with the production manager, crew leads and applications teams to improve the tools used in the field
  • Oversee quarterly fleet audits and equipment inventory control

Financial Accountability

  • Collaborate with leadership to set and manage budgets for labor, travel, fleet, and tool expenses
  • Monitor crew bonus structures, incentive payouts, and operational cost efficiencies

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Scheduling, Engineering, Procurement, and Inspection departments to ensure smooth project handoffs and operational execution
  • Serve as escalation point for major project issues requiring cross-departmental collaboration

Qualification Requirements

Education & Certifications:

  • High School Graduate or GED (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (Preferred)
  • Requires a valid Driver's License/Insurance and the ability to drive personal vehicle to different sites and branches as necessary

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of solar installation experience, preferably Ground Mount
  • 3+ years of multi-crew management or regional operations leadership
  • Strong background in installation, scheduling, and project quality assurance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
  • Strategic thinking with hands-on execution ability
  • Problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making expertise
  • Familiarity with CRM, scheduling platforms, project management software preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues professionally

Special Skills & Training

  • OSHA 30 Certification (Preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of safety compliance standards for solar construction
  • Exceptional analytical, time management, and prioritization skills
