Program Overview

Grand View University Peer Support Programs (Peer Mentoring, Summer Bridge, Peer Learning) recognizes that there is a population of first-year students who would benefit from support when they arrive on campus. Grand View peer support programs promote students’ success and persistence and create a community among under-resourced students and supporting their transition to the academic, co-curricular, and social aspects of college life.

Position Overview

The Peer Support Program Coordinator/Graduate Assistant will play a key role in supporting the Office of Inclusive and Supportive Programming with multiple strategic initiatives. This position will play a key role in leading and supporting the ELEVATE Peer Mentors and Summer Bridge Program development. There is flexibility to tailor the position to the Graduate assistant’s existing or desired skill set. This position will report to the Director of Inclusive and Supportive Programming and will be a critical member of the Title III Team. This is an on-campus position, and the graduate assistant must be enrolled full-time (6 credits) in a Grand View University graduate program.

Compensation & Hours

  • 20 hours/week assistantship (AY Fall 2025 - Spring 2026)
  • $2,000/semester
  • 100% tuition remission for Grand View's graduate program.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Graduate Assistant will work with Director of Inclusive and Supportive Programming to develop and implement mentoring and Summer Bridge Program.
  • Provide onsite coverage for the Summer Bridge program that includes residential experience.
  • Provide oversight of non-classroom Peer Support Programming activities in conjunction with Director of Inclusive and Supportive Programming.
  • Supervise the ELEVATE Peer Mentoring Program.
  • Develop additional student support efforts for Peer Support Programs participants as well as support campus student success efforts as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Inclusive and Supportive Programming and other Project Student Ready professionals to plan, implement, staff, and assess the Summer Bridge Program.
  • Assist with data collection for Title III to evaluate Peer Support Programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a Graduate Program at Grand View University
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work with under-resourced students transitioning to college
  • Knowledge of equity and inclusion practices
  • Intermediate knowledge around Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, occasionally during fall, spring, and summer semester, as needed
  • Must be able to work daily for extended hours during Summer Bridge Program
  • Bachelor’s degree required - Graduate Assistant must be enrolled full-time in a Grand View University graduate program through the duration of this position
  • Potential for extension through the Summer 2026 and 26/27 academic year
