The Government Contracting Business Development Specialist is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing government contracts to drive business growth. This position involves conducting in-depth market research, collaborating with sales teams, and fostering relationships with key public sector stakeholders to expand the company’s presence in the government market.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Market Research and Relationship Management – 100%
- Identify potential government opportunities through research and networking
- Conduct market intelligence and monitor on upcoming procurements, expiring contracts, and strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with sales teams to develop targeted business development strategies
- Develop and nurture relationships with government agencies, prime contractors, potential team partners ,and industry stakeholders
- Conduct training sessions for team members on best practices, tools, and strategies for government contracting and business development
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE)
- Analyze data utilizing platforms like GovWin to analyze data, track industry trends, and inform business development strategies.
- Generate leads, creating contact lists, and maintaining a database of potential opportunities for effective relationship management.
SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY/EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITY
- Communicates with external stakeholders, government agencies, and clients
- Coordinate and manage multiple projects
- Department/Division budget of generally $1MM+
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field.
- 3-5+ years of related experience
- Proven track record in government contracting, sales and business development
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong research and analytical skills to identify opportunities and make data driven decisions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or relative CRM systems
- Working knowledge of document management systems
- Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with government agencies, prime contractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions in contracts and partnerships
- Proficiency in creating and delivering compelling presentations to stakeholders
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in all activities
