Position - Google Apigee API Solution Architect

Location – Seattle, WA // Onsite

Exp. – 12+ yrs

Contract – 6 Month


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Architect and design end-to-end API solutions using Google Apigee API Management Platform.
  • Lead API lifecycle management: API design, development, publishing, securing, monitoring, and deprecation.
  • Define and enforce API governance, security (OAuth2, JWT, API keys), throttling, and rate-limiting policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify integration requirements and define API-first strategies.
  • Implement best practices for RESTful API design, documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger), and versioning.
  • Integrate APIs with backend systems including microservices, cloud functions, databases, and legacy systems.
  • Guide development teams on using Apigee Edge, hybrid, or Apigee X based on architectural needs.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines for APIs using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Google Cloud Build.
  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting performance, latency, and scalability issues.
  • Conduct API monitoring, analytics, and performance tuning using Apigee and GCP tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in API architecture and design, including 6+ years with Google Apigee (Edge, Hybrid, or X).
  • Deep knowledge of API security standards (OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect, mTLS, etc.).
  • Experience with RESTful API design and documentation (OpenAPI / Swagger).
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript, Python, or Java for API proxy development.
  • Familiarity with GCP services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Endpoints, and Pub/Sub.
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven design, and integration patterns.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD for APIs and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Google Cloud Professional API Engineer certification (or other GCP certifications).
  • Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud API strategies.
  • Familiarity with other API management platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Kong) for comparative insight.
  • Experience in Manufacturing domains is a plus.
