Position Overview
Global Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing food safety and regulatory compliance policies/procedures. Ensures that food products meet standards set by company and regulatory authorities. Manage audits by third-party inspectors. Train quality assurance employees and oversee manufacturing and production processes.
Essential Job Functions
· Coordinates design, implantation and audit of HACCP program
· Supports external and internal food safety audit; verifying corrective plans, setting goas for improvement and tracking performance against goals.
· Provides solution or prevention of problem compromising product and process quality
· Investigates and analyzes incidents, takes corrective action, and/or makes recommendation as appropriate
· Maintains up-to-date regulatory awareness and application
· Maintains close team working relationship with all operations and maintenance personnel
· Establishes and sustains effective relationship with all employees in order to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems
· Coordinates trouble shooting efforts and investigations to determine root cause when personnel or process deviations or failures occur and subsequently, identify and implement necessary corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence and provide full documentation of investigation and corrective actions accomplished.
· Oversees and investigates all customer returns or complaints to ensure accurate determination of root cause and implementation of any needed corrective actions
· Oversee British Retail Consortium (BRC), Recall Program, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP’s) and associated FDA, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) programs to ensure production of safe products.
· Responsible for following food safety/regulatory policies and procedures, executing responsibilities as identified in standard operating procedures, and reporting food safety/regulatory concerns to owners and upper-level management
· Meet with supervisors and inspect facilities for compliance with standards, determining methods to resolve any issues that arise.
· Prepare reports on food quality status to relay to owners and upper-level management and may keep records of all tests and inspections that have been conducted.
· Involves and engages employees through regular team meetings, process improvement discussions, follow-up on suggestions, and regular communication.
· Execute Mandatory Employee Quarterly Meetings
· Utilizes performance metrics to improve efficiency.
· Maintains a product quality level which meets or exceeds customer expectations.
· Ensures proper training, coaching and feedback to employees.
· Assesses, identifies, and addresses training opportunities, including job skills training, goal setting; facilitates effective team meetings, and rewards and recognizes the team’s progress.
Requirements
· Must be knowledgeable about all food safety standards that are customary within the food industry and mandated by government regulations.
· Expected to be familiar with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) management system required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the standards set by the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI).
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing direct reports.
· Excellent communication skills (listening, writing, speaking) required.
· Attention to detail and the capability to analyze data and make sound conclusions.
· Strong work ethic, enthusiastic, with a high level of initiative.
Experience:
· Requires 8 or more years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
· A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
