Large utility is looking for a GIS Technician in Grand Rapids, MI. The GIS Technician inputs and updates electric distribution data into a GIS Mapping System using CAD/GIS tools, while interpreting technical drawings and ensuring data accuracy under minimal supervision. Responsibilities
- Input Low Voltage Electric design work orders into a GIS Mapping System.
- Interpret construction drawings, electric work orders, and design records.
- Communicate with internal customers to clarify project requirements.
- Maintain data accuracy by updating logs, spreadsheets, and GIS records.
- Interpret as-built field data and update electric distribution system maps.
- Perform various technical tasks under general supervision in CAD, drafting, or electric design.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Support training of co-workers and collaborate with team members.
- Ensure professionalism in communication, attire, punctuality, and work ethic.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Proficiency in CAD/GIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks/projects and meeting deadlines.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team setting.
- strong communication and customer service skills.
- SAP knowledge is a plus.
- Interest in learning new systems and procedures.
Education And Experience
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in GIS, drafting, electric design, or a technical/scientific area.
