As part of your portfolio as General Manager: Data, BI and Analytics, you will:

• Establish and lead the Data Function at MTN MoMo, driving a strategic approach to data management, governance, monetization, and analytics across 16 markets in Africa.
• Structure MTN MoMo’s corporate data model, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks, enabling business growth through data-driven insights, and optimizing the value of 65 million monthly active customers and 15 billion annual transactions across multiple business verticals, including lending, insurance, remittances, e-commerce, and marketplace services.
• Execute the Data strategy by driving customer awareness, engagement, experience, and monetization
• Provide input into the Data monetization related aspects of the Business Plan, and cascade this to Operating Companies (OpCo's).
• Guide as a Subject Matter Expert for the setting up of frameworks and approaches for technical architectures to support the Fintech Services and innovation strategies
• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Fintech Data team by developing and driving the strategic plan for the function ensuring alignment to Technology’s overall strategic goals as well as Group Finco annual goals and objectives.
• Monitor performance against business plans (i.e., business plan tracking) as well as alignment with Group Finco global strategy and industry best practices

The incumbent must have the following:

• 4-year Business Science/ Information Technology/ Information Communications Technology/ Engineering (or related) Degree
• Master’s in business administration/ relevant master’s degree is advantageous
• Ideally specialisation in Data Science, Analytics, relevant deep-dive, industry specific (banking, finance, insurance, eCommerce, payments, remittance)
• Advanced certifications (e.g., CDMP, CDO, DAMA, TOGAF, AI & ML certifications) are preferred
• Minimum of 10-12 years post qualification experience in banking industry or financial sector
• Senior management track record of 5 years or more; ideally with at least 3 years preferably within a scaled FinTech
• Hands on experience in managing, leading and implementing innovative products and initiatives
• Ideally exposure to digital technologies in the space of APIs, ecommerce, and advanced analytics
• Proven track record of technical and specialised know-how in the FinTech operations management space and understanding of platform business model

What will give an edge to your application:

• Experience working across global locations/ regions and have a grasp of political, social, infrastructure and integrity challenges
• Cloud Native development practices as well as experience with implementing and deploying public cloud solutions
• Python, Linux, R and other contemporary tools
• Developing in Linux/Unix environment
• Programming languages, frameworks, and databases to the level needed on a GM role
