Position Responsibilities
The General Ledger (GL) Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day global activities of the General Accounting team in the GSS, including Royalties, Cash and Prepaid Accounting, and providing support to Deltek’s General Ledger team in the US. This role is responsible for overseeing general accounting processes across all accounts and transaction types, leading a team of accountants in preparing and posting journal entries, analyzing account activity for variances, and preparing and reviewing account reconciliations. This role is also responsible for ensuring that variance analysis is performed for general ledger accounts, and that other ad-hoc reporting is completed as required. The General Accounting Manager will also be responsible for automating transactions, focusing the team on error-free processing, problem resolution, and delivering performance that meets or exceeds the service level agreement.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Review and/or approve the following monthly activity in BlackLine:
- Journal entries
- Balance sheet account reconciliations, including supporting schedules
- Variance analysis
- Oversight of the following accounting activities under USGAAP:
- Royalty Accounting
- Cash
- Prepayments and Deposit Accounts
- Allocations
- Miscellaneous Accruals
- Lead month-end activities, including:
- Review and uploading of JEs / batches in Blackline
- Headcount upload and allocation entries
- Variance Analysis
- Support ongoing internal and external audits, including preparing/reviewing PBC requests
- Actively participate in recommending and implementing process improvements related to accounting policies and procedures.
- Support the Corporate Controller Group through the following:
- Assist the Head of the GSS and the Assistant Corporate Controller in drafting policies and procedures, including process flow charts
- Perform other accounting/finance tasks, as deemed necessary by management
- Create ad-hoc analysis upon request and work on ad-hoc projects as needed
- Work with global, cross-functional team members in the US.
Qualifications
Other Key Requirements of the Successful Candidate:
- 8-10 years or more of progressive accounting experience in a global company with USGAAP reporting.
- Minimum of 2 years managing staff.
- BA or BS in Accounting.
- Preferably CPA or equivalent.
- Strong computer skills: proficiency in Excel and strong knowledge of other MS Office.
- Willingness to work on a mid-day shift to provide support to internal and/or external parties in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe during non-close period and US Shift from BD +1 to BD +5 or as required.
- Experience working in a Shared Services environment is a plus.
- Experience from a big 4 auditing firm is a plus.
