Job Overview:
The General Ledger Accounting Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of financial reports for a portfolio of clients in our New York residential property management business. They will be highly technical, process driven leader who will build trust and promote culture within the client accounting team as well across departments within the market.

Your Responsibilities:
People Management
- Manages a team of General Ledger Accountants. This includes recruiting, onboarding, training and evaluating performance.
- Attracts, develops and retains diverse, high caliber talent, while developing an engaged team to build the capabilities required for the organization to perform at high levels.
- Promotes a culture of cooperation, trust and support.
- Provides ongoing support with training and coaching.
- Clearly defines and communicates performance responsibilities, goals, expectations and objectives.
- Regularly evaluate teams to determine performance and whether company standards for professionalism, attendance, and work performance are met. If expectations are not met, are responsible for coaching and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct ongoing performance management activities by providing constructive feedback and coaching through regular check-ins, structured one-on-meetings, mid-year touchpoints and annual reviews.
Operations
- Ensure financial statements are produced and distributed in accordance with internal process and procedures, regulatory requirements, management agreements and client expectations. This includes reviewing and preparing (as needed) monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and tracking of delivery deadlines.
Review property governing documents to ensure proper property and financial reporting set up.
- Oversee and manage other required client deliverables such as cost recovery billings, reserve transfers, ad-hoc reporting, etc.
- Compile and provide key performance indicator metrics as requested for leadership along with recommendations for improvements on opportunity areas.
- Serves as a knowledge expert with other departments/divisions and with subordinates.
- Coordinates the set-up of new buildings and transition out of buildings transferring to other management companies
- Collaborate with the financial management team to enhance the financial services delivered to our clients.
- Acts as a resource for board members, property managers and other stakeholders by:
- Responding to routine inquiries
- Participating in resolving complex accounting issues
Compliance
- Ensures adherence to Federal and State rules and regulations.
- Assists and facilitates the annual audit process.
- Assists and facilitates the annual budget process.
- Manage and track loan and mortgage obligations for clients.
Other
- Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned related to the stated objective for the position.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university, CPA certification, MBA or related work experience is preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience as an Accountant in the Property Management industry or real estate fields a plus, residential management is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and property management accounting
- Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and strong database skills together with proficiency in Microsoft suite
- Strong financial acumen and analytical agility
- Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proven prioritization, time management and project management skills
- Effective written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build effective relationships across the organization

Compensation:
$115000 - $130000 / year
