Summary

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage to all classrooms as needed
  • Fill in for preschool assistants and/or teacher as needed
  • Support the preschool Director with daily tasks in the preschool office - filing, copying etc.
  • Assist in the implementation of the daily program for the classroom
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of the classroom curriculum so it is age appropriate and effective
  • Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room
  • Help with the general set-up and clean-up to maintain the daily routine
  • Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the preschool
  • Treat the children, family members, and staff with dignity and respect
  • Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality about all children, family members and preschool employees
  • Supervise outside playground activities as needed
  • Follow directions of the lead teacher or the preschool director
  • Communicate with preschool students and families on a regular basis (i.e. weekly or monthly via newsletters, greeting families during arrival and dismissal)
  • Arrive on time and work through the scheduled hours
  • Be available for before care and/or aftercare as scheduled
  • Take no more than 30 minutes for lunch
  • Assist the lead teacher in any way needed
  • May on occasion be required to perform duties other than those specifically listed in this description

Relates well to all ages; exhibits passionate faith and energetic personality; passion for reaching and discipling children and families; strong desire to serve God through the ministry of the Preschool; current technology skills

Required Trainings and Certifications provided by the preschool

  • CPR and First Aid - required every 2 years
  • Digital Fingerprints - required every 3 years
  • Criminal Background check - required every 3 years
  • Universal Precautions Training - required annually
  • Drug Screen
  • TB test

Schedule

  • The hours of this position are M-F 10 am - 5:30 pm
  • Flexible schedule: August - May for the school year or work all year long with our summer program
  • We follow DeKalb Central Schools calendar for all days off including closings and delays due to weather
