Summary

eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. Our next-generation computing machines under development will be able to find solutions to problems that are out of reach today, thus enabling new innovative products and services for a brighter future.

We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer – Quantum Operations (f/m/d).

Responsibilities:

As a Full Stack Software Engineer Quantum Operations (f/m/d), you will be part of a team with a mission to develop, set up and operate our trapped-ion quantum computers and relevant test devices. You will collaborate closely with our international team of physicists and engineers from different disciplines. Depending on your level of experience, you will work on one or more of the following tasks:

  • Contribute to the firmware development, including drivers and real-time systems
  • Develop, maintain, and support software components, covering the full lifecycle: from new feature implementation to maintenance, bug fixing, and operational support
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, and physicists, to design, test, and optimize software-hardware interaction
  • Work closely with hardware teams to validate the correct behavior of software on physical systems and support troubleshooting during bring-up and operation
  • Debug, profile, and optimize firmware to meet performance and scalability requirements
  • Implement robust CI/CD pipelines for firmware updates, ensuring code quality and operational continuity
  • Apply a strong foundation in data structures and algorithms to design efficient and optimized firmware solutions
  • Document designs, processes, and methodologies to support knowledge transfer and regulatory compliance

Required skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 4+ years of hands-on experience in software development
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including web development with Flask and testing with tools such as pytest and test automation frameworks
  • Solid front-end development experience using HTML, JavaScript, and libraries such as React
  • Practical experience working with databases: MongoDB
  • Familiarity with hardware communication protocols, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and programmatic interaction with hardware
  • Experience using GitLab, issue tracking tools (e.g., Asana), and Sphinx for technical documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate hardware requirements into robust software solutions
  • Communicate fluently in English

We value:

  • Master’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering
  • Background in robotics/aviation/automotive
  • Exposure to high-performance computing, quantum systems, or other advanced hardware technologies
  • Experience in programmatic device control (SCPI, MODBUS, etc. over serial, USB, TCP)
  • Experience in ARTIQ
  • Experience in oscilloscopes, or emulators for software debugging

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: We value our team members and therefore provide remunerations that reflect this, additionally rewarding achievements.
  • Employee participation: Our team can share in the company’s success through an attractive Virtual Stock Option Plan (VSOP).
  • Flexible working hours: We offer personal freedom through a variety of flexible work schedules.
  • Team spirit: In our international and diverse team, and with our regular team events, having fun at work is simply part of the game.
  • Further development: We want to grow together and so we offer our team members’ needs-based, individualized further training as well as plenty of room for personal development.
