Who we are

Imagine not being able to swallow. Double cheeseburgers are off the menu, as is your morning coffee, and dinners with the whānau/family. This is the reality for millions of people worldwide who suffer swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) due to conditions like stroke, Parkinson’s and more.

At SwalTech, we’re on a mission to transform the lives of these patients and their clinicians by taking research from the University of Canterbury Rose Centre, and using it to create groundbreaking tech solutions. What you'll be doing

Rounding out our development team, you’ll be working on our products to ensure reliability, implement new ideas, and support compliance – all with a patient-first lens. We encourage our whole team to work closely with people on the ground using our products, so you'll be in close comms with both patients and clinicians to further develop the technology.

In classic start-up fashion, this job is what you make of it – we’re keen to support your development and encourage your areas of interest.

About you

We’re on the hunt for an early-career generalist with a breadth of interests and skillsets. More importantly, we’re looking for someone that’s keen to give things a go, is a self-starter, and can take initiative and ownership of projects.

You will have a strong interest in our technology stack, are enthusiastic at picking up new technology and improving systems, and are committed to quality engineering practices. Bonus marks if you have experience working in regulated environments and agile workplaces.

Ideally, we're looking for the following:

• 2+ years industry experience
• BSc in Computer Science, or BEng Software Engineering or other degree (or equivalent real-world experience that's taught you the ropes)
• Strong interest / demonstrable experience in C# / .NET
• Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud-based technologies
• Experience with web-based technologies
• A desire to collaborate with a range of stakeholders
• Genuine excitement about changing lives through new tools
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 / IEC 62304 / IEC 27001 standards
