The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join as our founding technical team member, collaborating directly with the founder to architect and build Distinkt’s software platform. This is a hands-on role where you’ll shape our MVP, integrating AI/ML for ink detection, blockchain for authenticity, and cloud services for scalability. From day one, you’ll code, design systems, and strategize—laying the foundation to pitch to Fortune 500 leaders like Amazon, Nike, and LVMH. We need someone who thrives in fast-paced startups and can deliver a production-ready solution in months.

What you'll do

​

• Build the Core Platform: Develop our full-stack solution (Python/Flask backend, JavaScript frontend) for QR scanning, DPP creation, and blockchain integration.
• Lead AI/ML Development: Implement image processing and video analysis (e.g., color-changing ink detection) using OpenCV, YOLO, and object detection/classification.
• Integrate Blockchain: Connect to blockchain networks for immutable DPP records, ensuring flexibility across platforms.
• Architect Cloud Systems: Design a lean microservices setup with AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3) for scalability and performance.
• Manage Data Pipelines: Build and optimize data workflows to handle DPP metadata, user data, and AI model outputs.
• Own the Tech Stack: Enhance our Python-based MVP, propose cutting-edge solutions, and define our technical roadmap.
• Ship Fast: Deliver a demo-ready system for industry leaders within months.

• Experienced: 8+ years in software engineering, with a proven track record of building scalable applications from scratch.
• Startup Veteran: Prior experience scaling fast-growth startups preferred—someone who’s turned MVPs into market successes in high-velocity environments.
• Full-Stack Expert: Skilled across the stack, with a passion for end-to-end problem-solving.
• AI/ML Driven: Deep expertise in machine learning and image processing, eager to innovate in anti-counterfeiting tech.
• Data Savvy: Comfortable designing and managing data pipelines for real-time applications.
• Communicator: Able to translate complex technical concepts into compelling pitches for non-technical stakeholders.

Technical Requirements

• Core Software Skills:
• Expert in Python (Flask, SQLAlchemy, Pandas) for backend and data processing.
• Proficient in JavaScript (React, vanilla JS, or similar) for responsive frontends.
• Strong with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• AI/ML Must-Haves:
• Hands-on experience with image processing, OpenCV, object detection, and object classification.
• Proficiency with the YOLO framework (e.g., YOLOv5, YOLOv8) for real-time video analysis.
• Familiarity with ML frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Cloud Expertise:
• Advanced skills with AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3) or similar platforms (GCP, Azure).
• Blockchain Knowledge:
• Experience with blockchain technologies (e.g., Ethereum, Hyperledger, or others) and libraries like Web3.py—platform-agnostic expertise preferred.
• Data Engineering:
• Proficient in data pipelines, ETL processes, and tools like Apache Airflow or AWS Glue.
• Experience with NoSQL (DynamoDB) and SQL databases for structured/unstructured data.
• DevOps Basics:
• Skilled in CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., AWS CDK, Terraform).
• Nice-to-Haves:
• UI/UX design skills for intuitive interfaces.
• Prior work in supply chain, retail, or anti-counterfeiting tech.
