We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Full Stack Engineer. Business: Innovation and Ventures1 Principal responsibilities Provide support across the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, utilizing skills in software development, testing, and operational support with flexibility to switch roles as needed. Take end-to-end accountability for a product or service, identifying and developing the most appropriate technology solutions to meet customer needs, especially in the context of generative AI. Work closely with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to drive product/service direction with a focus on AI-driven innovations. Establish a digital environment and automate processes to minimize variation, ensuring high-quality code and data for AI-based applications. Create technical test plans and implement automated testing, including unit and integration tests, within an AI-powered development pipeline to ensure code quality. Collaborate with DevOps teams throughout product/service development to ensure operational issues related to AI-based systems (e.g., performance, scalability, accuracy) are identified and addressed. Support the identification and resolution of incidents related to AI/ML services, ensuring service resilience, sustainability, and recovery time objectives are met. Responsible for automating the continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline within a DevOps team, with a particular focus on AI model deployment and continuous improvement. Stay updated on current tools, technologies, and regulations related to AI, data privacy, and other relevant domains. Requirements Demonstrable entrepreneurial spirit, a change driver, and fast learner with strong interest in AI, particularly generative AI technologies. A university graduate, with MS or PhD preferred. Graduates from top international universities highly preferred. Full stack software engineering capability, including front-end, middleware, and backend development. Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art technologies, particularly AI and generative AI frameworks (e.g., GPT, LLMs, etc.). Proven contribution to academic and industrial communities, particularly in AI or open-source AI projects, is a significant advantage. Financial services industry knowledge (retail, wholesale and investment banking, wealth management, insurance, etc.) is preferred. Ability to read and understand the latest academic and research papers, especially in the field of AI and financial technologies. Strong analytical, design, and problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure and minimal supervision in a fast-paced AI-driven environment. Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset with a passion for solving challenging AI-related problems and building breakthrough AI products. Strong communication skills in verbal and written form, with the ability to effectively present AI concepts to teammates, stakeholders, and business leaders. Committed to task completion, with strong attention to detail and a willingness to put in the effort to see projects through to completion. Experience working in a DevOps-focused, agile environment with AI systems. Flexibility in accommodating changing requirements and new AI-related responsibilities. Ability to work across multiple knowledge domains, especially in AI, and share that knowledge across the team. Leadership & Teamwork: Contribute to HSBC Ventures’ broader agenda, including thought leadership in AI, mentoring, and supporting other practice areas as needed. Be an essential part of a high-performing team, developing AI talent, making tough decisions, and bringing cross-functional teams together to achieve ambitious AI-driven outcomes. Experience coaching and mentoring technology talent, especially in AI technologies. Excellent relationship-building skills, particularly with technical and product colleagues, with an emphasis on AI collaboration. Functional/Technical Knowledge: Strong solutions architecture and engineering hands-on experience with complex enterprise solutions, especially in AI-driven environments. Deep understanding of microservice design, containerization, and scalability for AI models. Experience delivering scalable AI solutions, particularly within the finance industry. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Ali Cloud), auto-scaling, and global deployment of AI-based applications, with experience in at least one cloud platform. Experience with J2EE/Python/Golang/Node.js, design patterns, and databases (both relational and NoSQL), particularly in AI systems. Familiarity with AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, GPT-based models) and ability to set up AI/ML environments in cloud or containerized settings. Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, relational databases, and complex AI integration landscapes. Over 10 years of experience post-bachelor degree, with significant experience in AI-related development and architecture. Others: Knowledge of Lean Startup methodology and a VC-style portfolio management approach; ability to evolve new AI-driven propositions in an Agile environment. Ecosystem knowledge and connectivity with AI incubators, accelerators, VCs, and startups. Hands-on experience delivering digital and AI-powered products in a large enterprise environment.
