MongoDB Database Administrator

About The Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MongoDB Database Administrator to join our dynamic team. As a MongoDB DBA, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and performance of our MongoDB database infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, security, and scalability of our database systems. This role requires a strong understanding of MongoDB internals, clustering, high availability, and experience with cloud migration, particularly to AWS.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration :

• Install, configure, and maintain MongoDB database environments across various stages (development, testing, production).
• Proactively monitor database performance and capacity, identifying and resolving potential bottlenecks.
• Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including indexing, optimization, and patching.
• Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Manage user access and security permissions, ensuring compliance with security policies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and schema design.
• Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
• Design, implement, and manage MongoDB clusters for high availability and replication using replica sets and sharding.
• Proficient in using MongoDB Ops Manager for monitoring, managing, and automating MongoDB deployments.
• Implement and configure database encryption at rest and in transit, including certificate management.
• Configure and manage AD-based authentication for secure database access.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to MongoDB clustering, replication, and performance.
  
  

Cloud Migration (AWS Preferred)

• Plan and execute database migrations from on-premises environments to AWS.
• Experience with AWS database services relevant to MongoDB (e.g., EC2, EBS, S3).
• Implement and manage MongoDB on AWS infrastructure, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness.
• Knowledge of AWS security best practices for database deployments.
  
  

Additional Advantage (Preferred)

• Experience with other database systems such as SQL Server (with Always On Availability Groups - AOAG) and MySQL.
• Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization techniques for SQL Server and MySQL.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience as a MongoDB Database Administrator.
• Proven expertise in managing and administering MongoDB in production environments.
• In-depth understanding of MongoDB architecture, including replica sets and sharding.
• Experience with MongoDB Ops Manager for monitoring and management.
• Strong experience with database backup and recovery procedures in a Linux environment.
• Experience in setting up and configuring database encryption and certificates.
• Highly Preferred: Experience migrating MongoDB databases to Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Added Advantage : Knowledge of SQL Server (with AOAG) and MySQL database administration.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
