Summary

Creates/Coordinates student clinical schedules at various clinical sites to meet required clinical hours. Oversee clinical faculty and teaches students in clinical and classroom settings, evaluates student progress, advises students related to clinical and classroom progress, evaluates clinical activities; supervises and evaluates LPN students in clinical activities. Collaborates with online vendors to set up, ensure completion, and maintain student records (including background check, immunization records, facility specific orientation requirements, etc.) according to clinical agency requirements. Evaluates clinical faculty. Maintains rapport with clinical agencies. Participate in curriculum implementation and program evaluation. Required: * Master's degree in nursing * Currently unrestricted North Carolina License to function as a registered nurse. * Two years full-time direct patient care as a registered nurse. * Attain/maintain teaching requirements per the NCBON, which reads: 21 NCAC 36 .0318 FACULTY (a) Policies for nursing program faculty members shall be consistent with those for other faculty of the controlling institution, with variations as needed due to the nature of the nursing curriculum. (b) Fifty percent or more of the nursing faculty shall hold a graduate degree. (c) Nurses licensed pursuant to this Chapter who are full-time and part-time faculty and who teach in a program leading to initial licensure as a nurse shall: (1) hold an active unencumbered license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina. (2) hold either a baccalaureate in nursing or a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution. (3) have two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse. A full-time registered nurse is a registered nurse employed by the institution who is regularly assigned to work at least 40 hours each week in the position of faculty member. (4) if newly employed in a full-time faculty position on or after January 1, 2016, hold a graduate degree from an accredited institution or obtain a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution within five years of initial full-time employment. (5) prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. Once completed, this education need not be repeated if the employing organization is changed. This education may be demonstrated by one of the following: (A) completion of forty-five contact hours of Board-approved continuing education courses. (B) completion of a certificate program in nursing education. (C) nine semester hours of graduate course work in adult learning and learning principles. (D) national certification in nursing education; or (E) documentation of completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least forty-five contact hours approved by the Board. Criteria for approval shall include content in the faculty role in the curriculum implementation, curricular objectives to be met and evaluated, review of strategies for identified student population, and expectations of student and faculty performance or (F) individuals with prior teaching experience in an academic setting seeking a faculty position shall be evaluated by the Program Director to assess each individual's prior teaching experience commensurate with formal education in teaching and learning principles for adult education including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. (6) maintain competence in the areas of assigned responsibility; and (7) have knowledge of current nursing practice for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse. Preferred: * Simulation Experience * Teach program material via seated and online classes as required by the schedule. * Learn new material to keep up with changing technology. * Facilitate regular and substantive interaction via proactive communication with students. * Participate in recruiting new students. * Ensure classrooms, labs, and lab equipment are in good repair and maintain a safe environment for students and employees. * Serve as a mentor to students in your area of expertise. * Contact out-of-state students via email or postal mail with information related to program compliance with licensure requirements in their state of residence as required by the U.S. Department of Education. * Provide learning onsite and/or virtual learning support. * Act as a liaison between students, adjunct clinical faculty and clinical agency representatives * Assist students with career opportunities in conjunction with Student Services * Collaborate with clinical affiliates to plan, implement, and evaluate student clinical experiences. * Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate student performance in nursing labs, simulation, and clinical situations. * Create justifications for clinical faculty; share with Program Director * Conduct student advising conferences related to student progress. * Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate student performance in nursing labs, simulation, and clinical situations. * Create, administer, grade and maintain records for exams, projects, activities and reports for evaluation of students in courses. * Create justifications for clinical faculty; share with Program Director * Establish and maintain industry contacts, which include arranging guest speakers, field trips, etc. * Evaluate adjunct clinical faculty. * Instruct in nursing courses (18-22 contact hours each semester) * Maintain office hours as part of workload. * Manage clinical probation situations as they arise. * Oversee clinical requirements of students per agency requirements. * Participate in the annual Nursing Advisory Board meeting. * Participate in courses and curriculum revision. * Participate in professional development, college-wide and as appropriate to position. * Participate in student recruitment and retention. * Participate in the development/maintenance of learning management material for nursing courses. * Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein. * Planning clinical schedules * Seek and evaluate student services in the interest of nursing students. * Seek, evaluate and maintain instructional materials and equipment. * Serve on a variety of committees, college-wide and professional JOB TRAINING: Required Position Training to be completed in the first year of hire: * Canvas * Colleague/Datatel * Dropout Detective * Self-Service * New Employee On boarding * Google Docs * Zoom * Webadvisor * E-learning * Microsoft Office * Calendly Suggested Training: * School Dude
