Job Title: Assistant Professor of Music and Sound Design
Department: Department of Music
Reports to: Department Chair
DigiPen's comprehensive Music Department provides a wealth of entry points into the multifaceted discipline. Our faculty brings expertise in a wide range of instruments and performance styles, as well as professional experience in the studio, doing sound design and composing for video games and films.
The Department of Music is seeking applicants with a strong foundation in audio engineering, music technology, technical sound design, and game audio implementation, coupled with significant professional experience as a producer of music for the video game industry. The successful candidate will be a passionate educator with a commitment to student success and a dedication to innovative teaching methodologies.

Start date: August 1st, 2025
This is a full-time, in-person teaching position.
Responsibilities:
* Teaching: Teach undergraduate courses in music technology, virtual orchestration, sound design for games and film, audio recording and production, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and interdisciplinary team-based projects courses.
* Student Advising: Provide academic and professional advising to undergraduate students, including mentoring student projects and assisting with career development.
* Curriculum Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of DigiPen's interdisciplinary projects and sound design curriculum, including the integration of industry-standard technologies and best practices.
* Departmental Service: Participate actively in departmental activities such as committee work, recruitment of students, scheduled office hours, archiving of student work, and other service contributions.
* Industry Engagement: Maintain active professional connections within the video game industry, including collaboration with industry professionals, guest lectures, and potential consulting opportunities.
Qualifications
* Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Technology, or a closely related field.
* Minimum five years' experience as a recording engineer, audio director, and/or music producer in the video game industry, with two or more published mid-core game credits.
* Proficiency in Pro Tools, Reaper, and Logic Pro DAW software.
* Expertise with Audiokinetic Wwise and FMod Studio audio middleware.
* Experience with game audio scripting and integration with game engines such as Unity and Unreal.
* Experience with interactive music composition and sound design.
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* Preferred:
* Two years' experience teaching interdisciplinary project-based courses at the college level.
* Active in professional activities related to music, sound design, or the video game industry.
* Professional experience as a musician and music teacher.
Salary Range: $ - $ for an Assistant Professor with 9-month teaching responsibility
