What part will you play? * GAF Energy is seeking an FL NPI Engineer (Circuit formation/Soldering process up to Lamination/Encapsulation) who will work on the development and deployment of manufacturing processes (and materials) for next-generation building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) technologies. * They will report to the New Product Introduction Director and work within a cross-functional team to develop robust manufacturing processes that deliver seamlessly integrated solar products, achieving the highest energy production of solar roofs at a competitive cost. * The ideal candidate must have a passion for innovation and thrive working in a fast-paced startup environment. With outstanding PV and/or manufacturing experience, creative problem-solving, organized thinking, and strong collaborative skills, you can help us deliver the solar roof of the future. What will you do? * Collaborate with the R&D and Manufacturing teams to develop, qualify, and deploy front-line new process/materials roadmaps for BIPV products. * Define and own meeting key performance indicators (Yield, OEE, and quality metrics) for front-line and testing processes in support of the new product development/deployment process (Stage Gate). * Own engineering changes (EC), leading a cross-functional team (R&D, REL, Supply Chain, Products, and Manufacturing) towards planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of projects in qualifying alternate materials sourcing and/or continuous process improvement, through engineering change. * Develop assembly process, generate documentation (SOP/work instructions, OCAP/troubleshooting guides, training materials), and maintain qualification schedule. * Report results regularly to the leadership team. What do we require from you? * BS degree in Physics, Material Science, Chemical, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and minimum 3 years of work experience in manufacturing production environment. * Minimum 3 years of work experience in solar module manufacturing preferred, or electronics/semiconductor industry with added emphasis on soldering and lamination assembly processes. * Experience developing, characterizing, and troubleshooting soldering processes and assessing solder joint quality. * Experience measuring adhesion of typical laminated solar module materials. * Demonstrated track record of innovation, challenging problem-solving capability, and delivering technical solutions in time for customer needs. * Experience with defining specifications for processes, testing, and quality controls for high-volume production based on customer requirements. * Passion for collaborating with production technicians and operators in process improvement. * Strong analytical background, including statistical process control (SPC), structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, RCCA), and Lean. * Experience working in cross-functional teams to drive innovation, product, and process development. Demonstrated ability to articulate design trade-offs based on customer requirements. * Proven track record of handling multiple priorities, organizing workload, and meeting commitments. * Willing and able to travel within the US and globally, up to 25% of the time, in support of project deployment and/or factory ramp-up. * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally, in writing, and via presentations. * Impeccable attention to detail, a process-oriented mindset, and excellent time management skills. * Self-motivated, proactive, and efficient. * Must be able to wear safety equipment and perform work in both office/laboratory and production environments. * Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. * Ability to walk, lift, carry, grasp, bend, reach, kneel, and climb stairs and ladders is required. * Specific vision abilities, including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus, are required.
