Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a fragrance manufacturing company, is seeking to hire a dedicated Fragrance Quality Control Technician to join our team in Norwood, NJ. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, evaluating, and analyzing/testing raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and product safety regulations.

Hours: M–F, flexible (7:00–3:30, 7:30–4:00, or 8:00–4:30)

Compensation: $28-$31 per hour

Ssential Responsibilities

• Receive and analyze raw materials, comparing physical characteristics using QC measurements such as specific gravity, refractive index, melting point, and GC.
• Prioritize approvals based on daily order reports.
• Analyze production finished products and samples against established standards.
• Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and specification sheets for production samples, including cosmetic materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized QC laboratory in accordance with standard lab practices.
• Organize and maintain computer files containing QC information.
• Accurately record and communicate finished product rejections and updates to key contacts in Quality, Operations, Purchasing, and Customer Service.
• Utilize various communication methods, including email, and maintain appropriate notes in the system.
• Collaborate with department leads to resolve problem samples and customer rejections.
• Work with procurement on salvageable out-of-spec fragrances and provide rework direction.
• Participate in customer complaint investigations related to product quality.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in QC processes.
• Maintain a hygienic and safe work environment.
• Provide backup and support to team members, including administrative QC tasks and other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• One to two years of work experience in a QC lab environment.
• Basic knowledge of olfactory sensory evaluation; compounding experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of lab systems, analytical equipment, and instruments.
• Good understanding of safe handling practices for chemical substances, hazardous materials, and regulations.
