Summary

Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies make rockets, jets, and satellites 10x faster and 2x cheaper. Our CEO, Chris Power, discusses the importance of what we're building in this video.

We are a lean but mighty team (and growing!) of people who are passionate about building critical infrastructure to support the nation and the advancement of humanity.

We've raised >$200m to achieve this vision, with multiple rounds from Lux Capital, A16Z, Founders Fund, Construct Capital, Caffeinated Capital, and more.

We automate and scale factories that are globally cost-competitive and future-proof from the dramatic skilled labor shortage facing the Advanced Industrial Base.

Hadrian works with startups, Primes, and Tier 1/2s in all markets to cost-down, scale, or otherwise enable them to hit production rates on critical programs across defense, aerospace, maritime, and many other industries.

We are looking to hire both ICs and Managers! If you want to learn more, please apply or contact our team directly.

The Role

You will be a founding member of Hadrian’s new Special Projects division, collaborating directly with the CEO and engineering leadership. This division is responsible for focusing on ambitious R&D projects and serving as engineering experts on new business opportunities.

This foundational role centers on structural design, analysis, and manufacturing automation for confidential projects aimed at developing and optimizing structural components for large-scale fabrication. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and validating substantial structural components made from aluminum, steel, and advanced alloys while ensuring rapid, scalable, and cost-efficient production.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Own full structural lifecycle: Architect load paths, design and integrate large-scale metallic structures under complex constraints, and drive design maturity from concept through drawing release
  • Perform and review analysis: Execute sizing and structural analysis (FEA, hand calcs) and validate with static/dynamic loads, material allowable, and system-level requirements
  • Lead validation campaigns: Plan and run structural tests, evaluate results, and close the design loop across hardware and simulations
  • Enable scalable manufacturing: Develop the design for manufacturing strategies, define tolerances (GD&T), and collaborate on forming, machining, joining, and automation processes for high-rate production
  • Drive cross-functional execution: Work across mechanical, manufacturing, and software teams to build and scale from 0→1, with deep CAD/CAE fluency (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks)

What We’re Looking For

  • Professional experience owning structural design from concept through release
  • Applied experience performing structural analysis using FEA and hand calculations for static and dynamic load cases across mechanical or structural systems
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and creating detailed drawings using industry-standard tools (e.g., NX, CATIA, SolidWorks); working knowledge of GD&T and DFM best practices
  • Experience planning and executing physical tests (e.g., static, fatigue, environmental), with hands-on involvement in setup, execution, and data interpretation
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and automation teams to support hardware development, production scaling, and issue resolution

What Will Set You Apart

  • 10+ years of designing large-scale metallic structures for aerospace, maritime, or defense applications
  • Hands-on experience building with high-strength alloys, including aluminum, steel, and other superalloys
  • Hands-on experience transitioning complex structures from one-off builds to scalable, automated production
  • First-principles understanding of material science, structural integrity, and failure modes in extreme environments

Benefits

  • 100% coverage of platinum medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
  • 401k
  • Relocation stipend if you’re moving from outside of LA
  • Flexible vacation policy
